I worked for forty years and took six months vacation every year. So in forty years, I only worked twenty.

Harvey Wallbanger - Fall Season Series 3
Legend has it the Harvey was created in the 1950’s by Donato “Duke” Antone, the famed LA mixologist, who also gave fame to the Godfather, Rusty Nail, and Flaming Caesar. This drink is pretty powerful so don’t be surprised if your banging into a couple walls at the end of the night
Ingredients
1 ounce vodka
4 ounces orange juice
1/2 ounce Gailiano
Preparation
Pour vodka and orange juice into a Collins glass over ice cubes and stir. Float the Galliano on top and serve.
Pack up your blender and throw away those extra lime and lemon garnishes in the fridge. Your cocktail creation for the fall/winter season should be focused on warming you up, rather then cooling you down. Shorter and stiffer cocktails will engage deeper flavours and keep you away from hibernation.
Spices, richer textured boozes, eggs, and even pumpkin should be making appearances in Q4 and Q1. We’ve listed out some beverage choices for the coming months below…
Beer
Darker ales and stouts are sippers this season. Not great with a heavy meal, these beers should be depth in flavour and texture. Couple of our favourites are Guinness (obviously), St. Ambroise Oatmeal Stout, Innis & Gunn Original, Granville Island Pumpkin Ale and Upper Canada Dark Ale.
Not from the area? Test the knowledge of your local bar-keep or liquor store clerk, they should be able to help.
Bourbon
Knob Creek is our favourite as it has that subtle caramel taste. If your not looking to spend the extra bucks, Wild Turkey will do.
Beat a couple eggs, add some sugar, flour, one cup bourbon, half a cup cognac, milk, and you got your self a quick egg nog.
Scotch
Do people from Scotland drink Macallan 18 or 25 year? Probably not. Don’t let the commercialization of single malts get to you, especially during the holiday season. We’re big fans of the simple Glenfiddichs or Glenlivets. If your looking for something Canadian try the Glen Breton.
Smokey characteristic scotches are your Oban’s and Lagavulin’s. Want to start your car with your breathe? Laphroaig will do the trick as its 50% methane.
